Guardians of Light
MEDALLION OVERVIEW
These medallions are not trinkets or prizes. Each one is a living symbol —
a mark of character being forged, of virtues tested and proven. They remind our youth (and us as parents and leaders) that true growth cannot be handed over; it must be chosen, lived, and sealed by the heart. Every medallion is a witness that something sacred has taken root in the soul.
How to Earn a Medallion...
These medallions are not trinkets or prizes. Each one is a living symbol — a mark of character being forged, of virtues tested and proven. They remind our youth (and us as parents) that true growth cannot be handed over; it must be chosen, lived, and sealed by the heart. Every medallion is a witness that something sacred has taken root in the soul.
In Guardians of the Light, the medallions are not about pace, performance, or keeping up with anyone else. They are not meant to be earned in twelve months or displayed as a checklist of achievements.
Each medallion is a mark of transformation — a sign that something real has shifted in the heart. A Guardian earns it when a trial, quest, and vow have changed him inside.
This means the journey will look different for every youth. Some may earn many medallions in a year. Others may carry one medallion for several seasons before it is sealed in their soul. That difference is not weakness — it is faithfulness to the path God is walking with them.
At the end of each year, every youth takes home their shield or mirror — whether covered in medallions or still waiting to be filled. What matters is not how many symbols are present, but whether those symbols represent integrity, humility, and devotion.
The honor is not in how quickly you advance. The honor is in being able to look at each medallion and say:
“I worked for that. It changed me. I am not the same.”
Parents and leaders, this is why we encourage you to praise growth over speed, sincerity over perfection. The medallions are only wood and metal until they are sealed by the heart. That is what makes them holy.
This is not a race. It is a lifelong journey of becoming.
These medallions are more than milestones — they are a sacred exchange. Parents promise to guide with patience and walk beside their children with faith. Youth promise to seek change of heart, not just completion. Together, they become co-stewards in a journey of light, where each virtue is not just taught, but lived — and remembered forever.
Earning the Medallions with Heart
For both Keepers and Guardians, the medallions are not given for showing up or for outward performance. They are earned through lived experience by finishing the Trial, Quest, and Vow. Each medallion is a symbol of inner growth, not just outward action.
We remind the youth that what matters most is not speed, comparison, or perfection, but sincerity. Integrity, humility, and devotion make a medallion shine. When a boy stands for truth, the symbol they carry reflects who they are becoming. The medallion is only wood until it is sealed by the heart. That is what makes it holy.
Leadership promise:
As leadership, mentors, and parents, we promise to encourage with gentleness rather than pressure, to praise effort and integrity more than achievement, and to remind each youth that their worth is not earned, it is eternal. We will walk beside them as they earn each medallion with sincerity of heart, guiding them toward devotion to Christ rather than comparison with others. We commit to modeling the very virtues we ask of them — honesty, peace, creativity, courage, and quiet service, so that our example speaks as clearly as our words. Together, we will create a circle of light where every Guardian can grow strong, humble, and true.
Youth promise:
As Guardians, we promise to receive these experiences with open hearts. We will seek not just to complete tasks, but to be changed inside. We commit to honoring each medallion as sacred, a sign of who we are becoming in Christ. We will walk the Quest with sincerity, speak our Vows with devotion, and carry our Trials into real life. We choose to let these moments shape us, so that the light within us may grow brighter, steadier, and true.
The Medallions
Leaders, you are standing as knights at the gate, entrusted with shaping young men who are discovering their Divine Identity. To them, your words are like a sword that can cut through doubt or kindle courage, and your example is a shield they will look to when the battle grows fierce. You hold the sacred charge of welcoming them into a brotherhood of light, teaching them to carry truth and goodness into a world that often feels dark. This is both a heavy responsibility and a rare privilege: you are helping boys see themselves not as ordinary, but as sons of the King, heirs of a mission far greater than they yet realize.
