The Lantern

FAITH & BRINGER OF LIGHT

Screenshot 2025-09-15 at 5_edited.png
Faith is trusting the light even when the path feels uncertain. Just as lanterns in the hands of travelers once guided them safely through dark woods and stormy nights, your faith becomes a steady light that leads you forward. It shines brightest when the world feels confusing, when doubts creep in, or when you cannot see what lies ahead. With faith, you do not walk alone—you walk with God, and His light will never fail you. Carrying your Lantern of Faith means choosing to believe, to hope, and to move forward with courage even when the way is hard. As you nurture faith through prayer, study, and trust, your lantern grows brighter, giving you peace, strength, and the quiet confidence that you are guided and loved. To earn your Lantern of Faith, you must show that you are tending your light, trusting God, and letting your faith shine for others in the darkness.

The Gathering Circle

Leader: “Welcome, Keepers of the Light. You are seen. You are safe. You are strong. We gather in beauty, truth, and light.”

Ask the young women about God Instances they saw or experienced during the month.

The Light Offering

Invite the Keepers to share their path experiences from the month, encouraging both successes and challenges.

Then, briefly introduce the new medallion and virtue from the top section followed by sharing one of the mentors from below.

The Spark

Here are some suggested activities:

  • Faith Lantern Circle – Light lanterns and stand in a circle in a dimly lit space. Take turns sharing a time you had faith and you saw the hand of God in your life.

  • Start Seeds for a Garden – Gardening takes a lot of faith because you have to trust that the seeds will grow if you care for them properly.

The Path & Promise

After the Spark activity, the young women will be gathered with their circle (age based group) for the opportunity to record the name of the mentor and quote onto a scroll or if they have earned a medallion they will write their vow upon the scroll to place in their oil lamp wooden book. They will also select a Path (goal) for the following month based on the months theme or plan a project to extend a medallion. The Path is part of what they need to do to earn the medallion. Encourage the keepers to come up with their own meaningful path related to the virtue or to select a quest from the suggestions below:

  • Daily Prayer or Reflection: Spend 5–10 minutes each day praying or reflecting on personal faith and guidance.

  • Scripture or Inspirational Reading: Read a short passage each day from scripture or a faith-based book and write one lesson learned.

  • Acts of Courage: Identify one situation each week where you can act courageously based on your faith (e.g., standing up for a friend, helping someone in need).

  • Faith Journal: Write weekly entries about moments when you felt guided by faith or trusted in God’s plan.

  • Share Your Light: Perform one small act of kindness or encouragement each week to help someone else feel supported or uplifted.

  • Memorize a Quote or Verse: Choose a scripture or quote about faith and memorize it, reciting it daily to strengthen personal trust in God.

  • Create a Faith Reminder: Make a visual reminder (drawing, bracelet, or small craft) of faith to see daily.

  • Pray for Others: Each week, intentionally pray for someone else’s needs and note any guidance or feelings that come in response.

  • Faith Challenge: Step outside your comfort zone once a week to do something that requires trust—trying a new responsibility, speaking kindly, or asking for help.

  • Reflect on Growth: At the end of the month, write a short paragraph about how your faith “lantern” guided your choices and actions.

Recite the Keepers' Oath

I stand as a Keeper of the Light.

Christ's light burns within me — it is who I am.

My light nourishes life. I cherish beauty,

cultivate goodness, and walk in love.

I do not fear the dark, for my light was

born of heaven and lights my path.

I am a daughter of Heavenly Parents

and an heir of holy women.

My Mother walks beside me —

She has known this path.

My Father surrounds me —

His strength is my shelter.

I came to Earth to shine. I grow brighter

in courage and faith each day.

I will embrace the light within me!

The Closing Circle

Gather the keepers to a circle once more to award medallions & conclude the day as follows:

Award Medallions: Call the Keeper by her name with gentle honor and invite her to step into the circle. Place the medallion in her hand and allow her to attach it to her mirror. As the Leader awards an earned medal say, “You brought light where it was needed most. Even a small flame can brighten someone’s day. You are a Keeper of that light.” The circle may softly say: “Shine On” or “Keeper of Light."
