“Seeing Clearly” Water Filter Experiment

A visual way to show that truth brings clarity, not worth.

Supplies

• A clear jar or cup

• Water

• A spoonful of clean play dirt or cocoa powder

• Coffee filter, cloth, or simple homemade sand/gravel filter

• Bowl or second jar

Instructions

1. Fill a clear jar with water.

2. Add a small spoonful of dirt or cocoa.

3. Stir until the water looks cloudy.

4. Let the children observe: “It’s hard to see through it.”

5. Place a coffee filter or cloth over a second container.

6. Slowly pour the cloudy water through the filter.

7. Watch as the water becomes clearer on the other side.
