Shadow Play
LIGHT CREATES CONTRAST
Concept: Light and shadow help us see shape and truth. Even shadows teach us how light works.
Materials:
Flashlight or desk lamp
Toys, hands, or paper cutouts
White wall or large paper
Instructions:
In a dim room, shine the flashlight toward the wall.
Hold a toy or your hand in front of the light to cast a shadow.
Move closer or farther away — watch how the shadow grows or shrinks.
Talk about how sometimes “big shadows” in life can feel scary but mean light is near.
Teach: “The shadow isn’t bad — it just means something is standing in the light’s way. When we move closer to God, His light touches more of us.”
Optional: Trace the shadows on paper, label them (truth, fear, love, sadness), and talk about how light transforms each.
Reflection Prompts:
What do shadows teach us about light?
